Your Living Space

  • Residence Director (RD) apartments are fully furnished with living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture. Washers and dryers and kitchen appliances are also provided.
  • University provided furniture and appliances must remain in the apartment and are not able to be removed or placed in storage.
  • Some apartments have private, outside entrances.
  • Our in-house Facilities Operations department provides maintenance service for the RD apartments.
  • All RD apartments have both wired and wireless internet service.
  • You will receive an RD 1000 meal plan while you are on contract with the department. Your meal plan is valid at any on-campus University Housing dining center when they are open.
  • RDs are permitted to have approved occupants live with them. Additional occupants may include one other adult occupant per fiscal year and/or dependent children or person(s) for which the employee and/or approved occupant has legal guardianship.
  • RDs are permitted to have a dog or a cat after going through an approval process with their supervisor. Non-dangerous fish which live completely underwater are permitted without approval. Aquariums may be no larger than 25 gallons.
  • While on duty you must be within 15 minutes of campus. RDs receive a cell phone stipend as they will use their phones to respond to any duty related calls.
  • RDs serve in an on-call duty rotation throughout the year. There is an RD on call 24/7/365, including breaks and holidays.
  • As University employees, RDs receive a discount at the University Bookstore, Verizon and Sprint wireless services, Lied Center ticket discounts, and a free city bus pass.
