Residence Director (RD) apartments are fully furnished with living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture. Washers and dryers and kitchen appliances are also provided.
University provided furniture and appliances must remain in the apartment and are not able to be removed or placed in storage.
Some apartments have private, outside entrances.
Our in-house Facilities Operations department provides maintenance service for the RD apartments.
All RD apartments have both wired and wireless internet service.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is a dry campus, therefore alcohol is not allowed in any campus building including the RD apartments.
You will receive an RD 1000 meal plan while you are on contract with the department. Your meal plan is valid at any on-campus University Housing dining center when they are open.
RDs are permitted to have approved occupants live with them. Additional occupants may include one other adult occupant per fiscal year and/or dependent children or person(s) for which the employee and/or approved occupant has legal guardianship.
RDs are permitted to have a dog or a cat after going through an approval process with their supervisor. Non-dangerous fish which live completely underwater are permitted without approval. Aquariums may be no larger than 25 gallons.
While on duty you must be within 15 minutes of campus. RDs receive a cell phone stipend as they will use their phones to respond to any duty related calls.
RDs serve in an on-call duty rotation throughout the year. There is an RD on call 24/7/365, including breaks and holidays.
As University employees, RDs receive a discount at the University Bookstore, Verizon and Sprint wireless services, Lied Center ticket discounts, and a free city bus pass.
