This page outlines the process for applying for on-campus housing for the 2025-26 Academic Year (August 2025 to May 2026) for current UNL students, new transfer students, and graduate students.

The application and room selection process will happen in two parts. 

Part 1: the housing application will open for current students on Monday, November 4, 2024. We encourage all students interested in living on campus for 2025-26 to complete the first part of the application. Returning student housing is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The first 1,400 students who complete Part 1 will move onto Part 2.

Part 2: the first 1,400 students to complete their housing application will receive a specific room selection timeslot for December. Prior to room selection, these students will have the opportunity to match with roommates in the Housing Portal. Students will only be able to match with other students who are in the first 1,400.

Students who do not receive a timeslot will be automatically added to the wait list for 2025-26 housing. Students will remain on the wait list until a space has been offered to them. We anticipate the ability to offer additional housing to students on a rolling basis.

Housing Application Submission Instructions

Opening Monday, November 4, 2024

• Start your application in the housing portal.
• Click "Returning Student Application" on the red navigation bar.
• You should see "2025-26 Academic Year." Click “Apply.”
• Complete each page and click “Save & Continue.”
• Complete the first portion of the housing application and join the Wait List.
  • Note: the first 1,400 students to complete this portion of the Housing application and join the wait list will receive a room selection timeslot in December.
  • Students will remain on the wait list until a space has been offered to them.
  • We anticipate the ability to offer additional housing to students on a rolling basis.
• Congratulations! You've completed the first portion of your Husker Home housing application.
   

Room Selection Instructions

• During the designated timeframe, return to the housing portal to search for a roommate(s). Roommate groups are not required! If you’d prefer to fly solo, go that route!
• At your room selection time, return to the housing portal to complete your application.
• Select your room assignment, pay the $100 nonrefundable application fee, and sign the housing agreement.
• You'll also have the option to select a meal plan and opt into Renter's insurance.
• Congratulations! You've successfully secured your on-campus home at NEBRASKA!
