Returning, Graduate, & Transfer Students

2026-27 Housing Sign-Up

Smiling student in residence hall room
Welcome, Huskers! We’re happy you’re making your Husker Home right here on campus.

This page outlines the process for applying for on-campus housing for the 2026-27 Academic Year (August 2026 to May 2027) for current UNL students, new transfer students, and graduate students.

The housing application is divided into 3 sections that occur at 3 different times to ensure peace of mind when determining your living arrangements for next year. There is no rush to complete your application immediately upon the process opening. However, there is a benefit to being one of the first 1400 students to complete Section 1 of the application, as you’ll have access to search for roommates and select your specific room for the next year. Keeping reading to find out exactly how the process will work!

Section 1: Join the Waitlist (Opens Nov. 3)

  • Share information about yourself, provide details about your living style, select your hall preferences, and join the waitlist.
  • The first 1400 students to complete Section 1 will be able to search for a roommate later in the process, so there is a benefit to ensuring you act quickly once the application opens!

Section 2: Roommate Finder (Nov. 5 – Nov. 11)

  • The first 1400 students to complete section 1 and join the housing waitlist will be eligible for the Roommate Finder.

Section 3: Room Selection + Application Completion (Nov. 17 – 21)

  • The first 1400 students will have an assigned time to select their room from available housing inventory.
  • Once a room has been selected, each individual must return to the Housing Portal within 3 days of room selection to pay the $100 application fee and confirm the housing assignment.

With those 3 simple steps, you’ll have secured your place at NEBRASKA for the following year! If you are not part of the first 1400 students to apply and go through room selection, staying on the waitlist is your best path forward. The Housing office will offer spaces to students on the waitlist as soon as space allows!
