Move-In 2025

August 17-20, 2025

WELCOME TO YOUR HUSKER HOME

We’re excited to welcome you to campus August 17-20 for Move-In 2025!

There are two ways to move in: curbside unloading and self-serve move-in. Both options are outlined in detail on this page to help you plan your arrival. Specific move-in dates and times will be sent to students via their Huskers email on July 23, 2025.

Be sure to check this page regularly throughout the summer as we’ll continue to post important updates and tips to make your move-in smooth and stress-free!

Primary Option

Curbside Move-In

Here, let me carry that!

Experience a seamless check-in experience that begins from the comfort of your own vehicle!

On your assigned move-in date and time, you will arrive at Memorial Stadium, where housing staff will get you checked in, give you your key, swag, and move-in related information. All vehicles in your party should report to Memorial Stadium. You will have the opportunity to exit the vehicle for pictures, but this is not required.

From Memorial Stadium, our team will assist you in navigating to your residence hall using a specific route. One vehicle will report to the residence hall for unloading, while other vehicles in the party will be directed to long-term parking.

Once you have arrived at your residence hall, our expert move-in staff will descend upon your vehicle, unload your items, and move them to your residence hall room - without you breaking a sweat! After parking your vehicle, walk to your hall and proceed to your room to unpack and get settled into your Husker Home.

Curbside FAQs

Eligibility

All incoming first-year students are automatically assigned to curbside move-in.

Non-first year students moving into on-campus housing must sign-up for the curbside experience on the Housing Portal by July 1.

Arrival Window

Please arrive no sooner than 30 minutes before your move-in time. Follow street signage and University Housing-provided maps and directions. If you're more than 30 minutes early, we'll ask that you wait until your designated move-in time. If you're late for your appointment time, we'll do our best to move you in as soon as possible.

Vehicle Limit

Only one vehicle per student will be permitted for curbside unloading. U-Hauls, trailers and campers aren't permitted. If students/family members bring additional vehicles, they'll be directed to nearby parking lots/garages. You'll be responsible for transporting materials from extra vehicles to the room.

Label your containers

Make sure all move-in containers (plastic totes, suitcases, other boxes) are clearly labeled with name, hall, room number and cell phone number.

Fragile Items

Please plan to personally move all fragile or easily breakable items to the room yourself. This includes electronics (monitors, tv, laptops, etc.) and bicycles.

Restrictions
  • Curbside move-in is only available on the designated dates and times.
  • Curbside unloading is not available during rescheduled appointments or afterhours.
  • To allow for a smooth, efficient curbside move-in, elevator use during the 8AM-5PM window will be restricted. Students and families will be directed to utilize the stairs during this time.
  • In the unlikely event our move-in staff is unable to fully unload and deliver items from your vehicle to rooms due to labor shortage or other unforeseen issues, movers will unload your belongings and then place items into carts. After you park, pick up your cart near the unloading area, unload in your room, and return the cart to the outside unloading area.

Rescheduling Curbside Date/Time

Unfortunately, curbside move-in is not available during rescheduled move-in times. If you are unable to arrive at your assigned move-in time, you can reschedule a time in the Housing Portal and will utilize self-serve move-in as described on this webpage.

Curbside Route Maps

Hall-specific maps will be available in late July. This map will show the specific route to take for curbside check-in and unloading for each hall.

Secondary Option

Self-Serve Move-In

You got this!

We want you to have the move-in experience that best suits your needs. If you are unable to make your assigned move-in date/time or would simply prefer moving in your own items, students and families may elect to move in on their own, using their own muscle.

For students interested in self-serve move-in, you will report directly to your residence hall. Do not go to Memorial Stadium. There, you will get checked in to your residence hall. Since you will not have the help of movers, carts will be available in each hall for you to utilize.

Self-serve move-in times are restricted to the following time windows:

  • Sunday, August 17 after 6PM CST
  • Monday, August 18 after 6PM CST
  • Tuesday, August 19 after 6PM CST
  • Wednesday, August 20 after 6PM CST
  • Thursday, August 21 (and beyond) between 8AM and 8PM
