Remembering Cather & Pound
Cather and Pound Halls, Nebraska's oldest high-rise residence hall complex, was imploded five years ago on Dec. 22, 2017.
The 13-story towers, which opened in 1963, are Nebraska's first high-rise student housing facility. Each hall offered 20 rooms per floor with two beds in each room. Capacity for the complex was 960 residents. The first floor of each tower featured two lounge areas, living space for a residence hall director and a reception desk/mailbox area. Mechanical equipment was located in each basement.
