How do I sign up?
Apt style returner signup will begin on January 29. If you are returning to the same room in Courtyards/Village you may get your room assignment when you submit your contract online. If you would like a different suite or different room within your suite, simply print off your remittance form and bring it to the student union on February 3.
What if I am not a current resident of a Residence
Hall or The Courtyards/Village?
Current residents will have a priority sign-up beginning Jan. 29. Current Housing residents will then have a chance to enter a lottery for spaces available.
- If you have a friend who lives in apartment-style, they can request you as a roommate.
- If you know someone who lives in Housing that wants to enter the lottery with you, you can do that. They will be the group leader
- Or you can email Housing and ask to be put on the waiting list. This option is only available after March 1.
What are the dates of the contract?
There are Academic and Academic/Summer contracts available. The dates of the Academic contract are August 16, 2009 through May 15, 2010 with
the option to extend the contract. The dates of the Academic/Summer contract are August 16, 2009 to July 31, 2010.
What are the rates? Payment terms?
There are two payment plans for The Courtyards/Village. Pay Plan 1 for has two installments billed in September and February. Pay Plan 2 is set up on monthly installments.
The rates are as follows:

What are the cancellation terms?
Cancellations made prior to May 1, 2009 result in a $200 cancellation fee. Cancellations from May 1 - July 15 result in a $500 cancellation
fee. Cancellations after July 15 will result in a cancellation fee of 40% of remaining balance of the contract. All cancellations must
be made in writing to the University Housing office.

I see that I get two meals at the dining halls with my contract. What does that mean?
Two meals in the dining halls are provided with the contract. The meals may be used in any of the dining halls Monday through Friday
when dining service is open. The meals may not be used at the Hewit Training Table.
What are the differences between The Courtyards and The Village?
The Village has a Clubhouse and convenience store located in the North Building. The Village has 161-2 bedroom suites and 51-4 bedroom suites available and The Courtyards has
108-4 bedroom suites and 23-2 bedroom suites.
What is the difference between a "Balcony" and a "French Balcony" on the floor plans?
A french balcony offers doors that open to a railing with a view of the courtyard/surrounding scenery below. A unit with a regular balcony will have
doors that open up onto a small patio with railings, these offer a view of the courtyards/surrounding scenery.
What utilities are included in the price of the contract at Courtyards and Village?
All utilities including heat/AC, electricity, water, cable and wireless internet access.
What furniture is included in the apartment?
A loftable/adjustable bed, dresser, and desk are included in the bedrooms. A couch, chair, tv stand, and side table are
included in the living area. Two stools are included for the dining counter. The kitchen is fully furnished with a dishwasher, stove,
microwave, and refrigerator/freezer. There are waste baskets in the kitchen and bathroom, and each bedroom has its own full length
mirror as well.
Where are the Academic/Summer neighborhoods located?
At The Courtyards floors 4 and 5 will be available for Academic/Summer contracts.
What if I signed up for an Academic/Summer contract, but my plans have changed and I am leaving Lincoln in May?
You need to notify the Housing Office that you wish to modify your contract to an Academic contract to end on May 15, 2010. Please view the difference in payment schedule in the Courtyards/Village Contract Booklet.
What if I signed up for an Academic contract (ending May 15) but I need to stay for the summer?
You need to notify the Housing Office by April 1st of your intent to extend your contract to an Academic/Summer contract. You will be charged
the Academic/Summer rate for your entire contract period. Please view the difference in payment schedule in Courtyards/Village Contract Booklet.
What if I signed up for an Academic contract (ending May 15) but need to stay for half the summer? (e.g. the first five week session of summer session)
Your contract will need to be converted to an Academic/Summer contract, ending July 31. A partial extension is not available. Summer Housing is also available in Selleck, Fedde and Husker Halls, available session by session.
How much are the rates increasing for next year?
The rates will increase less than 5% for the next year. Please refer to next years policy booklet.
Is the Returner Student Discount available to me as a Courtyards/Village resident?
Returner Student Discounts are only available to those in the traditional residence halls.
How many credit hours must I take to stay in the halls?
To be eligible to live in the residence halls, a student must be enrolled for at least six semester hours (not to include extension
or correspondence courses.)
Do I have to pay an advance payment when I turn in my contract?
An advance payment of $200 is due when you turn in your Apartment-Style contract, the remaining balance of $300 is due by June 15. This advance
payment total of $500 will be applied to your last billing installment.
What if I'm under 19 and don't have a parent/guardian signature on my contract?
Please refer to the instructions in the signature portion of the online contract.
What if I will be 19 a few days after the sign-up?
Please refer to the instructions in the signature portion of the online contract.
What do I do if I have a class or work conflict, and I can't make it to sign-up on the right day?
You may have someone else bring in your remittance form. Please also send written documentation informing
housing staff that you are giving this person authority to select a room assignment for you.
What if I go through sign-up then I decide to live off-campus instead?
Contact the Housing Office to cancel your contract. The cancellation fee for cancellations received before May 1 is $200 and for
those received May 1 to July 15 is $500.00. After July 15 the cancellation is 40% of the remaining balance due on the contract.
Do my roommates and I have to have the same type of contract (e.g. I sign up for an Academic/Summer but my roommates only
want Academic)?
You and your roommate(s) do not need to have the same type of contract.
If my friend lives in The Village or Courtyards and I don't, can they request me as a roommate for next year (09-10)?
Yes, when your friend completes his or her contract for the following year, he or she can request you as a roommate. Our office will then contact you to complete an apartment-style contract.
