"Corn? Check. Long flowing plains with fertile soil? Check. Nice, welcoming people with an unprecedented dedication for their university? Check. That's right, you can have all this and more at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. To be honest, I had really only driven through the state of Nebraska once and that experience alone was not all that impressive. In all fairness, it was all interstate with not much scenery except stalks of corn taller than the Jolly Green Giant. This is exactly why I was hesitant about setting up an interview Nebraska, but boy am I glad that I did.
The most exciting part of working at the University of Nebraska is the people. The students here are energetic, involved, and committed to academics more than any other university that I have seen. On the other side, the faculty and staff are perfect matches, exerting the same commitment to the qualities that embody UNL. This is much demonstrated through our University Learning Communities. I've had the chance to supervise 11 of the communities, and the interaction with each respective college and faculty members is truly an engaging one, with high focus on the development of academic and social experiences.
When I look back at my experiences in my first year here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I can honestly say that I am proud to work for such a strong department that is deeply committed to achieving the university's goals and mission."
