"When I was doing my first job search, my mentors told me it was important to find the right "fit," and when I did find it, that I would know. I immediately found that fit with Nebraska. Whether it was at my OPE interview or when I stepped on campus, I was surprised how well Nebraska "fit."Working at UNL has truly provided me with tangible professional development experiences that I am not sure if I could have gotten anywhere else. I have had the opportunity to work in a building in its second year, working with my student staff to not only shape and develop the community, but to also start traditions and processes. Outside of my Residence Director-specific duties, I have had the chance to teach and develop the Resident Assistant/Community Resident Assistant class for newly-hired student staff members, serve on the Professional Staff Recruitment Committee, as well as help in the planning a drive-in conference at UNL that brought it Dr. Carney Strange and Dr. Mary Beth Cooper as sessions hosts and keynotes.
Living in Lincoln has been a welcomed change from a larger-city atmosphere. This town bleeds Husker Red; something that can be not only heartwarming, but entertaining, too! Lincoln is a smaller city, with a small-town feel. Everything I need is within driving distance, and, if not, Omaha is not too far away!"
