The City of Lincoln: There's More To The Cornhuskers Than Corn
Voted by Expansion Management magazine in 2003 as a "Five Star Community," Lincoln is appealing for its small-town feel yet offers a wide array of cultural attractions and business development opportunities.
Shopping
It's sometimes fun to shop for things other than programming supplied and pizza for a government event. Lincoln offers great shopping opportunities across town with all the normal department stores including Wal-marts, Target and Shopko and also includes three major shopping areas.Haymarket/Downtown
An array of unique specialty shops and over 100 restaurants, clubs and nightspots await visitors to downtown and Haymarket. Shopping attractions include antiques and art galleries in the Haymarket, as well as Husker apparel, bookstores, shoes and clothing in the downtown core.SouthPointe Pavilions

Dining
Hungry? You're in the right city! As an RD, you get a 7 day meal plan which is great but sometimes it's nice to get off campus and enjoy a meal. In addition to many chain restaurants, these are some of our local favorites:- Lazlo's (Try the Pub Club - it's great!)
- Noodle & Co. (Traditional, Italian, and Asian-inspired dishes)
- Buzzard Billy's Armadillo Bar and Grill (Cajun cooking)
- Crescent Moon Café (Coffee shop with a great outdoor seating area)
- Ivanna Cone (Ice Cream at it's best - try the cinnamon flavor)
- Misty's (You come to Nebraska for steak and this is the place to try it!)
- Bisonwiches (Good sandwiches and soup in fun bar and grill environment)
- Thai Garden (Excellent Thai food right downtown)
- Skeeter Barnes (BBQ and the best chocolate cake)
- The Parthenon (Greek cuisine)
- Huhot (Mongolian Grill)
- La Mexicana (Great lunch specials)
- Braeda (Soup and sandwiches and great for lunch!)
On the Weekends
Being land-locked doesn't mean being bored. Lincoln offers a lot of different types of entertainment and recreation. Some examples are:- Museums
- Bowling (Even an alley on campus!)
- Athletics (Husker Athletics, Intramurals, Batting Cages, etc)
- Movies (5 Theaters in town; 2 within walking distance and 1 on campus)

"Hello! Thanks for considering the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My name is Craig Lennon. This is the fifth year I have lived in Lincoln. After growing up in New England and living in the metro Boston area for seven years, I didn't know what to expect from Nebraska. I thought that I would be here to get my Master's degree and then quickly move back east. I finished my Master's degree in Leadership Education almost two years ago and I still love living in Lincoln. What I enjoy most about Lincoln is that it is a sports crazy town. The whole state focuses on University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletic teams. Cornhusker football games are absolutely amazing. The atmosphere at games is tremendous because Husker football is a passion of the state. In addition, I enjoy going to Husker women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and baseball games. If you aren't in to college sports, Lincoln still hosts a minor league baseball team, the Lincoln Saltdogs, and a USHL junior league hockey team, the Lincoln Stars.
Best of luck in your search. We hope to see you here in Lincoln soon."
