"I would say I spend a good 75% of my day laughing with my students, the other RD's, and my supervisor. What really attracted me to the position here, more than the professional development or benefits or the nice apartments, was how much fun people appeared to be having when I interviewed. Now that I'm here, it's definitely the thing I value most. I have a lot of fun at work. The students here are phenomenal. From the dedication and ingenuity of the RA staff to the enthusiasm and drive in our student government leaders, it's clear that these are people who will make a difference in the lives of others. I am constantly impressed with how much they accomplish in their roles while still succeeding academically and personally and how often they make me laugh.
Finally, the opportunities for me as a first year RD have been extensive. I was able to teach and help develop the curriculum for RA/CRA class, help plan a drive-in conference, serve on several committees and start a new committee within Residence Life. Our supervisors and Associate Director are very supportive of us growing in the RD position and taking on the experiences that will make us more effective in our jobs now and more marketable for the next job."
- Denise Williams, Abel South RD
