UNL is a Research I, land-grant institution. It is the only land-grant University in Nebraska with a three-part mission of teaching, research and service. Individual's considering our institution will find us an enthusiastic bunch dedicated to creating positive experiences for both students and staff.

Our Residence Directors are motivated and knowledgeable professionals whose purpose is to help our students to be successful. Staff members have the opportunity to learn a great deal from the unique and varied experiences that each brings to the position.

You will get the opportunity to work with great students in a variety of roles including supervision of staff (for some including graduate students), advise student groups, conduct judicial meetings, lead critical department committees, hire, train and evaluate staff and work with Learning Communities.

The variety of opportunities open to you as a member of the Residence Life team is only limited by your imagination. We also provide collateral opportunities for individuals who want to broaden their skills and experience within Student Affairs. Our department is unique in providing a five-year professional development plan that engages you in the institution and sets you up for success in future aspirations. We want you to be prepared to effectively step into a higher level position in higher education when you choose to leave UNL.
