Students who live on campus are more likely to earn better grades, become involved on campus, interact with faculty, and are much more likely to graduate. Due to the significant link between academic retention and on-campus living, the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln adopted the following On-campus Residency Requirement:
All unmarried students who are enrolled for seven or more credit hours, and who are under the age of 19 as of the first day of the fall semester of the current academic year, are required to reside in on-campus housing.
This policy is in effect for the entire academic year.
If your student did not complete the Residency Requirement form included in your Housing Contract packet, he/she will need to complete the On-campus Residency Requirement form.
When the On-campus Residency Requirement form has been completed, make a copy for your records and return the form to the University Housing Residence Life office. You may return the form by:
- Email (pdf) reslife@unl.edu
- Fax: 402-472-7198
- Mailed or dropped off at: University Housing Residence Life, 1115 N. 16th St., Lincoln NE 68588
The student will be notified of Housing's decision regarding the request in 4-6 weeks.
See the Housing Contract for further details.
