Housing Connection for Parents
Welcome to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Parents Website. As the parent, guardian, or family member of a UNL student, you also become a vital part of our campus' extended family. We've designed this site with information specifically for parents/family members so you can support your son or daughter in his or her studies and college life.
Temporary Rooms
In some cases it becomes necessary to assign students to "temporary rooms," for example, a converted lounge or large end room. As soon as space becomes available, students are assigned to a double room. The temporary spaces may not be equipped with all of the furnishings of a regular room. If you are going to be assigned to a temporary arrangement, we will notify you before you arrive on campus.

Cancellation and No-Show Policies
Any student not occupying his/her room by 6 p.m. on the first day of classes shall be considered a no-show and will have his/her contract cancelled as of that time unless he/she has filed an official notification of delay of arrival (written notice submitted and accepted by University Housing) by 4 p.m. on the first day of classes.

Three Things Students Can Do to Have the Best First-Year Experience
by Sue Kelly-MooreAssistant Director of Residence Life, 402-472-1046, smoore3@unl.edu
When you think about it, making the transition from high school to college is a year-long experience of "firsts." Some "firsts" for students include moving into their residence hall room and sharing a room with someone.

UNLAlert Recommended For Student Computers
UNL is committed to the safety and security of its students, faculty, and staff, and visitors to campus. Students and parents are encouraged to install UNLAlert, a custom computer application designed to help facilitate early notification during emergencies.
UNLAlert comes to life with scrolling onscreen graphics and audio when UNL Police issue an emergency notice.
Anyone who wants to receive alert notices from UNL Police may download the application at http://emergency.unl.edu.

Illegal Downloading? Not On Our Network
Illegal behavior such as unauthorized sharing of copyrighted music, movies, videos, games or software is strictly prohibited. Use of the UNL network, which is a shared resource, is a privilege that may be revoked if it is abused. If the university receives a complaint against a computer that is connected to the campus network, consequences will ensue.

Handling alcohol and drug violations
Students spend almost two-thirds of their time in the residence hall during the academic year. Should a student encounter an alcohol or drug violation during his or her stay, Housing staff first want to support the student and help them find the needed resources.
