The Smart Move.

Tips To Make Your Move A Little Easier

  • Complete the Express Check-In before August 12. The check-in form will be available through your WAM account when you receive your room assignment.
  • Download the Move-In and Parking Map for your specific hall. Maps include specific instructions for getting to your hall and avoiding road construction as much as possible.
  • We strongly encourage you to bring no more than 2 vehicles per family on move-in day. If you could even limit it to one you may find it even easier. Our parking lots will be quite full, and, unless you are coming from a long distance, you may find it easier to make multiple trips over the course of the weekend. This also allows the students to see how much space is available in the room once everyone has moved in.
  • Anything that you have bought, borrowed or picked up second-hand may be harboring bed bugs. If you are not sure if an item is bed bug free, do not bring it. More information at the Lancaster Co. Extension website.
  • There are a limited number of carts available at the front desk of most halls. They can be checked out for one hour with an ID and a $5 deposit (refundable when the cart is returned). You may also find it helpful to bring a two-wheel cart or dolly to help with smaller items.
  • During move-in weekend, certain parking lots will be designated as one-hour loading zones only. Just as you hope to have a place near your building to unload, so do other families moving in after you. So, when you are done unloading, our Parking Services Staff will direct you to a nearby parking area where you can leave your car whlie you finish unpacking and getting settled. Please view the parking maps for these specific areas. Lots will return to their normal designation on Sunday evening before classes start.
  • Students will need to present their NCard (Student ID) at hall check-in.
  • If you are looking to avoid the rush, we suggest not arriving first thing in the morning. This tends to be our busiest time.
