Night Clerk

Job Description:

• Observing and reporting - Night clerks are the eyes and ears of the staff, identifying questionable behavior or activity
• Monitoring - night clerks monitor the activity and entryways into building entrances
• Acting as a visible deterrent to crime - Night clerks are a proactive presence, discouraging inappropriate behavior by residents and their guests
• Reducing Risk - Night clerks reduce risks to people and property. Maintenance concerns and malfunctioning elevators or inoperable doors must be identified and unattended spaces must be secured
• Providing customer service - Night clerks greet residents and guests, answer questions and respond to the student needs. Night clerks will contact RAs/CRAs/RDs when emergencies arise
• Problem solving - Night Clerks provide crisis management when needed
• Ability to work between Midnight and 8am

Employment Period: Semester/year; positions are available during the summer in The Courtyards and Selleck.

Starting Wage: $7.00

Date of notification: Night clerks are often hired during the spring for the following academic year. Openings are based on need in each complex. However, applications are accepted on an on-going basis to fill openings as needed.

• This is a zero physical intervention position. University Housing does not expect employees to physically intervene in illegal or inappropriate behaviors
• You do not need to be a criminal justice major to be a night clerk; all students are encouraged to apply. No experience is necessary; all training is provided
