Get 3-A-Day of Dairy
What is 3-A-Day?
3-A-Day is a public health campaign to help make people aware of the health benefits of including 3 servings of dairy in their daily diet. 3-A-Day of Dairy encourages everyone to include 3 daily servings of milk, cheese, or yogurt as part of a healthy diet.
Why is Dairy So Important?
Dairy foods: milk, yogurt, and cheese, pack a powerful punch of nutrients to help build stronger bones and bodies. Dairy products are one of the best sources of calcium and vitamin D, which help build and maintain bones and teeth. Dairy products are also a great source of protein and a variety of other important nutrients. Many reduced-fat, low-fat, and fat-free varieties are readily available to meet all taste and nutrition needs.
What is One Serving of Dairy?
One serving of dairy is...
- 8 ounces of milk (1 cup)
- 1.5 ounces of cheese (3-4 cheese cubes or 1-2 cheese slices)
- One 8-ounce container (or 1 cup) of yogurt
And did you know?
- Flavored milk counts!
- Dairy servings can be included as part of mixed foods, like pizza or yogurt smoothies.
